Joe’s Quarterly Update – October 22

What are Talk and Tours

A former Board member often said that WestBridge Vocational (WBV) is “the best-kept secret in town.” At WBV, we want to let the secret out. We want the communities we serve to know about our programs and the opportunities available to the disabled and disadvantaged populations. We realize the importance of community awareness as it relates to sharing our story and the impact of our efforts in our catchment area of Jackson, Macon, and Swain counties and the Qualla Boundary. By connecting with the individuals, businesses, schools, and other non-profits in our area, we learn more and share more, which enables us to expand services and provide more choices for those we serve.

It’s Important Our Community Knows

Early in 2021, the WBV Fund Development Team began offering Talk and Tours to our community partners. A Talk and Tour provides the means for WBV to share information about our business model, programs, and services. It allows us to learn about our communities’ needs and develop relationships with those with needs and those that help with needs. It is a platform to share information, resources, knowledge, and expertise. The Talk and Tour is a means for WBV to connect our communities with the individuals we serve.

Why Talk And Tours

Talk and Tour have strengthened our connection with public schools and the services 80+ high school youth experience through Pre-Employment Transitional Services (Pre-ETS). Talk and Tour have strengthened the relationships and collaboration with valued partners that offer an array of services for the disabled and disadvantaged. Talk and Tour have increased awareness with employer partners and training and job opportunities for those we serve. Talk and Tour have heightened the awareness and support of individuals and community leaders for the services offered by WBV.

You are Invited

Since 1976, WestBridge Vocational has provided job-training skills and job opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment. We support our mission through our manufacturing efforts. We love to share our stories so that more individuals may benefit from our programs and services. Talk and Tour are available to any person, entity, business, or organization. I encourage you to contact Mike Rogers or Chris Stuckey and schedule your visit to WBV.

Joe Rigdon, CEO
