Gowns given to hospital

Sylva, NC – When WestBridge Vocational got a call from Board Chair, Dr. Cliff Faull, letting us know the local Harris Regional Hospital was low on Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), WestBridge responded by donating 1,700 Tyvek disposable personal protective gowns for staff.

“We have seen a tremendous increase in demands for medical devices, specifically surgical drapes and wraps” states Joe Rigdon, WestBridge CEO.  “Several of our drapes are critical care products used to treat those around the world dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.  We wanted to help locally and were able to provide these gowns to Harris Regional.  WestBridge has provided vocational training and job opportunities to people with disabilities for 44 years and supports efforts in our communities and globally to end the pandemic”.

Dr. Faull, a retired orthopedic surgeon in Sylva added, “As someone with deep ties to both our local medical community and WestBridge Vocational, I am both appreciative and proud of the effort to assist the caregivers in need of personal protective equipment. I can only hope that these protective coats will not be needed.”

“The staff and providers at Harris Regional Hospital would like say thank you to our tremendous community partners and neighbors at WestBridge Vocational,” states Stephen Plemmons, Director of Emergency Services.  “We have been overwhelmed with the generosity and compassion that our community has shown us during this unprecedented time. The usage and supply of personal protective equipment is something we keep at top of mind in order to keep our frontline staff safe and healthy and we cannot thank you enough for your generous donation of Tyvek protection gowns. What an honor and blessing it is to provide health care to this community and thank you for thinking of us in our time of need.”
